Fenway Park June 15, 2009
I was invited for a private tour of Fenway Park a few years back – an experience I’ll never forget.
I invited a gent named Eddie Doyle who has
become one of my best friends. Eddie was the bartender that had been laid off at Cheers in Boston a few months earlier – just before St. Patrick’s Day. I’d sent him a sympathy urinal poster. Dan mentioned that Eddie’s one of the most famous guys in Boston – involved in ever children’s charity there is! He was also the guy who served the CBS executives who spawned “Cheers” in the 80’s (when the pub was known as “The Bull & Finch”) I’m glad did. Although we are not related, we have become great friends. Last year, at his Falmouth Walk charity event on Cape Cod, we auctioned off a framed urinal poster.
4 tickets to the Red Sox vs. the Mariners fetched $240. The poster commanded $300! Think about that if you are planning an auction and want a hoot of a crowd-pleaser to pull in some bucks.
